Terms of Service
Last updated July 2026. These terms govern your use of Lecture to Book.
Acceptance of these terms
By creating an account or using Lecture to Book (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and “you” refers to both you and it.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to create an account. The Service is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly allow anyone under 13 (or under 16 where required by local law) to register.
The service
Lecture to Book converts lecture recordings you upload into draft book outputs (PDF, HTML, EPUB) using automated transcription and AI-assisted writing. Outputs are machine-generated drafts; you are responsible for reviewing them before distribution.
Your content and license to us
You retain all rights to the recordings you upload and the outputs we generate from them. You grant us a limited license to host, process, and transmit your content solely to provide the Service to you. You confirm you have the rights and any necessary consents to upload and process the recordings you submit, including consent from anyone recorded in them. We do not train models on your content and we do not share it across accounts.
AI-generated output
Outputs are produced with the help of third-party AI models and automated transcription (see the Privacy Policy for the current subprocessor list). AI-generated text can be inaccurate, omit information, or misattribute statements to the speaker. You are responsible for verifying facts, quotations, and attributions before relying on or distributing an output.
Accounts
You sign up with an email address and password, and must verify your email before running conversions. Sessions last 30 days. New accounts receive a one-time free trial of 60 minutes after email verification.
Credits and billing
Conversions are billed in minutes of input video against your credit balance, and if a conversion fails the credits are refunded to your balance automatically. You can buy credits two ways, both processed by Stripe. (1) Prepaid credit packs: one-time payments whose credits do not expire while the service operates; packs are refundable within 14 days if fully unconsumed. If we ever discontinue the service, we will give at least 60 days notice and refund the unused portion of purchased credits pro-rata in cash. (2) Memberships: a monthly subscription that grants a fixed number of conversion minutes each billing cycle. Unused membership minutes roll over month to month up to a cap of 12 times your monthly allotment; minutes above the cap are not granted. You can cancel anytime via the billing portal — accrual stops at the end of the paid period and banked membership minutes remain spendable. Membership-included credits are not redeemable for cash and are not covered by the wind-down refund.
Acceptable use
Do not upload content that you lack rights to, that is unlawful, or that contains other people's personal data without authorization. Do not use the Service to generate content that infringes third-party rights, defames any person, or violates applicable law. Do not reverse-engineer, scrape, probe for vulnerabilities without authorization, or use the Service to build a competing product. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this policy.
Intellectual property
The Service itself, including its software, design, and branding, is owned by us and our licensors and protected by intellectual property law. These Terms do not grant you rights to our trademarks or branding. If you send us feedback or suggestions, you agree we may use them without any obligation to you.
Copyright complaints
If you believe content processed through the Service infringes your copyright, contact [email protected] with a description of the work, the material you believe infringes it, and your contact information, and we will investigate and respond as required by applicable law.
Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from account settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service, subject to the wind-down terms above. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification — continue to apply.
Disclaimers
The service is provided as-is and as-available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Generated drafts may contain transcription or synthesis errors. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lecture to Book is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months preceding the claim.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Lecture to Book harmless from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your use of the Service in violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Idaho, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Idaho unless applicable consumer-protection law requires otherwise.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Service before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
General
You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect, and these Terms are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service. Neither party is liable for delays caused by events beyond its reasonable control.
